Imagine yourself as a current Carolina student! Join fellow Houston Tar Heels and Dr. Kelly Hogan ’01 (PhD) for a discussion on the pedagogical methods she uses in her introductory biology course at UNC. These methods have resulted in increased achievement for all students and in particular first generation college and black students. While explaining her work, Dr. Hogan will demonstrate the current technologies and methods she uses in large lecture classrooms. She’ll get everyone involved, so you can go back to your days as a student. Dr. Hogan will also give some updates about the efforts to bring more student-centered learning to all courses.

The event begins with a reception at 6 p.m. Mingle with Houston Tar Heels, Dr. Hogan, Stephen Keith ’94 from the College of Arts and Sciences and Casey Privette ’01 from the General Alumni Association while enjoying a selection of heavy hor d’oeuvres and complimentary non-alcoholic beverages. A cash bar will be available. Speakers will begin at approximately 7 p.m.
